Was doing bicep curls when it happened. Because there will be no gym for me for the next 2 weeks, I trained a bit too hard on that day, adding a few more sets, ignoring the pain from my forearm. After positive failure, I keep on doing negatives. Only the left wrist is injured though and I haven't been doing any curls with my left arm for 10 weeks now due to very noticeable pain everytime I have to use my wrist to do anything. Been to those chinese singsehs for a few times, but problem still exists. Any idea what to do, guys? I really need help, I don't want to stop training.

hi... i'm a beginner in gymming... and i have a wrist problem which hasn't healed in a YEAR!!!
i guess its too late for treatment is it?
i would like to know more about the changi sports hospital.. how much the consultation fees all that.
any 1 else have the same problem as me?
i get this pain in my hand around the wrist there especially when i'm doing bicep curls.
I suspect that i got this injurey while doing skull crush while lying on a bench... i think i carried a weight which my wrist cant take it, or is it the technique problem.
another reason i suspect for the cause of my injury is going too heavy for my bench press but at that time.. i didnt know anything about the wrist positioning...
wonder if my wrist can still heal? or is it permanent injury?
I'm quite depressed now as there are many exercises which i cant do eg. biceps, triceps, back as it will worsen the my wrist condition but there are still those that i think i'm able to do without pain. eg. bench press, shoulder press all that.
so what suggestions do u pros here have for me at the moment?

hey, my wrist is ok now. what i did is just left my left arm alone for 4 weeks. what i mean isnt to pull out your left arm and put it in the drawer but just dun carry anything heavier than a loaf of bread for that arm. and stop stretching and rotating your wrist. in short, stop doing anywork with that arm. my arm hasnt healed for that long period is because of i keep on testing it by lifting lighter dumbbells all the time.

I seriously think that you should consult the doctor before you continue pumping weights.. I have no clue hwo much does the sports hospital charges, you can always give a call and ask them for an estimate costs. how long have you been into weight lifting? if your a newbie, never push yourself too hard, unless you have mastered the techniques..

hmm... i thought when u do bicep curls... the wrist is just kept locked for support only... u curling part is u contract ur bicep to lift the dumbell or barbell rite? Just like if u do dumbell fly for ur delts... u lead with ur elbow not the entire arm... correct me if i am wrong... n if i am not wrong... then it means the wrist do not come into play much when u do ur curls... which will mean the likelihood of injurying the wrist should be low or not even there...

ok... paiseh.. din write clearly... the thing abt wrist injury sustained by slow during bicep curls... my understanding is during a bicep curl... the main muscle involved as stated in the name of the exercise is the bicep... i remember when doing bicep curls we contract the bicep to lift the dumbell or barbell... and the wrist is kept locked for support only not lifting rite? We do not lift the dumbell or barbell during a bicep curl with your wrist rite? Similarly, if we look at another exercise like the lateral raise with dumbells... the movement of the exercise is to lead with ur elbow... not by the forearm (i was told abt the dumbell lateral raise by one of the sports therapist at Changi Hospital)... Therefore, my question is... during the bicep curls with either dumbells or barbell... the chances of injuring or straining the wrist should be relatively low unless the person is overloading too much?

yes...your right on that.. elbow has to be locked...or else you risked breaking it when your on heavy loads..
dont overload yourself as a newbie.. or when you lack a spotter.. you risk injuring yourself.
you can overload, fore example, heavy negatives are good.. unless you have a spotter , other than that.. dont let your ego over take you..

hi haru... think u shld seriously back off from ur training for a while... n go consult a doctor... as far as i know... sports therapy does cost quite a bit... been there for my knee problems some time ago... one way to get a lower rate is to go to a polyclinic to get a referal for sports therapy... i had mine done at Changi General Hospital... take care dude... no doubt working out and training hard makes us feel good... ;D BUT remember... safety comes first... anytime u r not feeling good or during training if u feel hurt... then u really have to back off n get the problem sorted out b4 going on... cos its no good working with an injury that may cause u long-term problem...
