hi guys can u give me some advice on what to do and not to do for people with slipped disc on the upper back?
like can tell me what are some exercises i can try etc thank u very much for yr help.how much weight to use etc?
i did try reading books on gym stuff but none of them cater for people with injuries.
i'm still studying so i cant afford to go to trainers only can try out my school gym but i would like to become stronger so that i can again like last time carry things with less problems compared to now.
have a happy chinese new year everyone.

just to share with u how i am trying to train around injuries. Last feb, while doing 80lb dumbell shoulder press, i let down the dumbbells and trrrk! felt a pain in my left rotator cuff.. after which, whole left RC was pain like hell. till this date, the rc never fully healed so certain movement like flat press will cause a numbing pain, incline press, though wont cause much discomfort but having a wider than shoulder grip will cause minor pain as well. So basically what i learnt thru' trial and errors are; - ensure u have sufficient rest for the injured parts. - avoid any direct stressing on your back. - alway be conscious of your injuries and train with sense rather with pride. - avoid movement that can cause pain or discomfort to your injured spot. - check your injury with a specialist *must* not those sinseh or what.. go to CGH and look for a sport injury specialist.
it took me at least 10 months to get over this pain so patience is the key word. mind if u tell us where exactly is your slipped disc on your upper back?

i got my slipped disc in the C4 region i think somewhere the neck and upper back then MRI shows its pressing on my spinal cord.
i only started training the past three months about 2 to 3 times a week only light weights.
for me specialist also no use, physio for 1 year also no effect one. the specialist only say one thing if it turns bad we have to operate so end up go see chinese doc and chiropractor now condition improved but for me it took about 1 year plus then the pain subside until now already 2.7 to 3 yrs seldom do i feel the pain then now i start to exercise well so far so good.
thanks for yr kind reply.

Hmm, would you like to try swinging? It's really good for the back.
