2.1xBW DL, nice job! Aim for 2.5x, I've read on average any person can lift up to that given proper training and enough time. Anything more, and you can start competing. ;D
No you aren't rambling, you are absolutely correct. Must know exactly what you're doing, both long and short term. Must know what you're training for, must know what program you're using, must know what you're going to do the moment you hit the gym and every other time. Sure, there will always be the very rare ones who train on instinct, but really, how many of those are there around? Like most things, the usual cliche applies: Fail to plan, plan to fail.
But then again, if everyone had such self-discipline, personal trainers would be out of business. ;D

yea, i agree with fedor. i myself am a newbie and learning everyday too. just tried DL today, did 180kg for 6 reps but still miss 210kg.. KNN #$%^&*. starting today, doing the coan/philippi deadlift routine.
fedor, did u do the circuit training as stated there? i didnt' as booking 4 stations for circuit is going to draw flakes from the other gym users. is it strictly 3 sets of 8 reps so i should load until i can achieve 8 reps?

Yes..i did the circuit training as well.Maybe i'm lucky as the gym is usually less crowded so i'm free to use the equipments to do the circuit training. Also the power rack is usually empty when i am there. Here's an example of what i did, ok i've finished the deadlifts sets in the power rack and rack the weight to prepare for the goodmornings, then i took another spare olympic bar and set it anywhere in the gym for stiff leg deads and bent over row, as for the lat pulldown, just try your luck,if a person is using it,maybe u can share it with them. For the circuits,i use my judgement on how much weight to load as i believe the program did not state how much.i increase the weights for each set, so let's say i use 60 kg for the first set of goodmornings, then i add 10kg more for the next set and 10kg more for the last set. What i can say is listen to your body, this program is very taxing(for me anyways) just with the deadlifts, speed deads and the stiff-leg alone. therefore if u feel out of form, just use lighter weights for the circuit. Even with lighter weights,i guarantee u that u will be feeling satisfied when u have completed the workout. I also want to say that i can't achieve my deadlift max if not for training at fengshan boxfit gym, i can't imagine doing deadlifts or any hardcore training for that matter in any other gym..in boxfit u can bang weights, scream, shout, grunt(i don't do it personally) and what have u and no one would say a thing, not even the caretaker. Not to mention the abundance of free weights and plates at your disposal.i just wished the management would purchase another power rack, they bought another smith machine instead... even though the price is slightly higher than clubfit but i feel it is really worth it.

I think i would like to participate in the cdans strongman challenge if it is held again, although i doubt i could qualify, but it is again just for the experience and to test myself personally on how far on how heavy i can go.

oh ya, i forgotten about the stiff legged deadlift. for the competition wise, u are definitely very well qualified for it. the main problem is the tire flipping which is very taxing to both endurance and strength, plus fire engine pull, it is all boil down to techniques.
yes, fengshan cc gym is a nearest hardcore gym that we can ever get in SG. IMHO, one of the best training gym around, atmosphere is really good and they play heavy metal music too!
r u keen on tire flipping event? i will call that factory supervisor to check if he is willing to lend us the premised for a half saturday or not. $$ i pay.
