HardCore: Where are you from? Jimmy: I was born in Neptune, NJ. My early teens I lived and went to school at Wall Township, NJ until 1980. My family then moved to Greece where I started my bodybuilding career. In 1990 I decided to move back to the US to continue my bodybuilding career and go full force for my IFBB pro card.
HardCore: What's the most suprising fact about you? Jimmy: Wow! That's a tough one. I am very easy going. People tell me that I'm funny and I have a sense of humor. Good hearted, very generious and down to earth.
HardCore: What are your current measurements? What's your on and off-season weight? Jimmy: I really don't measure because bodybuilding to me is about how you look. I try to keep my symmetry and proportion accordingly. My off-season weight is about 300lb and my on-season is about 275-280lb.
HardCore: How did you get into Bodybuilding? How many competitions have youcompeted in? How long have you been competiting? Jimmy: When I lived in Greece at the age of 16 I played professional soccer. After getting into a serious knee injury during practice I was told to rest for 4 weeks and start rehabilating my knee. I then joined a small gym in the city of Athen, Greece. From that point on I just fell in love with the feeling of training and pushing yourself to no limits. I have been competing since 1984 and have competed in over 20 competitions around the world. I am heading for my 21 year in the bodybuilding world.

Sunday: REST
HardCore: What's your best lift? Jimmy: Even though I'm not known for my strength I have quite a few good lifts. I have benched 550lb for 2 reps. I have a 700lb squat, 200lb DB presses and 500 inlcine bench. I know there are guys out there just as big as me and even smaller that make these lifts but these were very exciting to me.
HardCore: What supplements do you reccomend teenagers to use? Jimmy: Well, that depends on what their goals are. The most common nutritional supplements I reccomend are Creatine and Glutamine before and after workouts, Whey protein shakes, BCAA's (Branch Chain Amino Acids) and EFA's (essential fatt acids). Again, supplementation needs vary according to each person. [/color] HardCore: What's your diet? How much calories do you try to get in? Jimmy: Meal 1
15 Eggwhites
4oz Oatmeal
2scoops Whey protein
Meal 2
10oz Chicken Breast
2 Baked potato
Large salad
Meal 3
Pure Whey protein Shake (3 scoops)
Meal 4
10oz Turkey or Chicken
1 cup of rice
Green salad
Meal 5
Pure Whey protein Shake (3 scoops)
Off-season I will add another meal.
HardCore: Are you currently bulking or cutting? Are you preparing for any competitions? Jimmy: I am currently in the middle. I have a few business ventures that are happening that need me to be in a very lean state. I have a radio show that will air with ESPN on Monday nights 6-8pm. People will be able to listen to my show live all over the world from my website www.jimmymentis.com. I also have the "21-Day MentisMakeover" system being launched. This is a exercise and nutritional plan for people who want to get in their best shape of thier lives. It comes with a software program so everyone can have thier own comprehensive custom program for thier specific needs. And last, I have my own sports nutrion line of supplements called "Mentis Super Supplements". They are supplements in their purest form and the price is just amazing for the quality. I do not see myself competing this year. I'm sure I will be planning something for next year.
HardCore: Do you know anything about Singapore ? Jimmy: I have visited Singapore twice in 1989. I just loved it. I have a great time.
HardCore: What do you think of Singapore? Any plans on dropping by? Jimmy: I think Singapore is a great place to be. The culture is just amazing. I would love to visit again and see all my fans and take pictures with them and share my experience and knowledge I have encountered in my 21 years of bodybuilding.
HardCore: Lastly, what advice would you like to give to all the teenage bodybuilders out there? Jimmy: Train hard and be smart. If you are going to pursue bodybuilding don't let that just be your main focus in life. Get an education and have balance in your life. Bodybuilding will then be more enjoyable.
