Ok enuf of the swiss ball rubbish. the swiss ball is for weenines. Get over it. If you want core strength, you need to do weighted ab/lower back/oblique work. Thats the end of story. Teh sqiss ball is invented by people who need to prove they are smart by using new things... "look at me, i can do shoulder presses while eating a sandwich while standing on a swiss ball with one leg" ... all that will do is make me good at the circus act. Makes no sense. "oh but i get strong stabilizers" yeah so what, strong stabilzers with weak prime movers means you are weak... hey if i can bench 400lbs (hehe one day) but a guy can bench 150 lying on a swiss ball (i am not sure if i can do that) and we push each other, I am 100% sure ill be able to throw him backward and onto his butt...
Do weighted core work. Standing crunches using a tricep rope (or your towel for goodness sake) on a cable machine or lat pulldown, weighted hyper extensions, non-linear (to the side) weighted crunches for the obliques, russian twists, dragon flags (reverse crunches) hey these are the exercies of strong helathy people (gender unbiased, girls should do them too), leave the swiss ball nonsene to the weak people who dont know what thye are doing.
bTW with weighted ab work, get ready for your squat and deadlift and bench (assuming you are doing them right) number to shoot up... core strenght is a big weakness in many people... the swiss balls have got to go. regds Jonathan

Not just turkeys, most of the drills in fact.
Turkeys are easy to explain! Just lie down, hold up a weight, sit up, stand up, sit down and lie down again. And of course, don't drop the weight on your face or head or twist your shoulder off.

RUSSIAN TWIST Hold a weight to make it more evil. DRAGON FLAGS Press down with arms by the side of the body or hang something on your feet to make it more evil.

this remind me of Bruce Lee in one of his documentary where he did this body elevation. impressive! swiss ball are Captnj's pet peeve. once this guy was doing his routine on this swissball next to the power rack where i was doing my squat. sooo close to it that i have problem navigating to put/pull the plates and if the plates tilt and drop on him, i shudder to think about the consequences. yea, these balls keep rolling around. I might sneak a pen knife and puncture them.. muahaah. Captnj should come to toa payoh safra megagym. i had banged weights, screamed, shouted, salpped myself, fainted and spitted (pardon me), and trainer has yet to complain. The only thing he will make noise is when people dont return back the weights. that trainer is another hardcore fella too.
