How many of you, after a heavy squat day, just sit around the next day and whine aobut how your legs are sore and how you need mommy to serve you? Quit whining and hug your mom...
You need to get off your butt the day after and do so leg exercises! Thats right ... leg work... light jogging, cycling, and light squats for high reps to get blood flowing to the muscles again. This aids recovery while not taxing the nervous system. The russian wieghtlifters go into the thigh deep water of a river and walk upstream after their heavy days to get this same recovery effect... We dont have rivers... but the above exercises will do as well.
Same goes for upper body work e.g. high rep incline chins after heavy back work and high rep pushups after upper body pushing work.
Personally i use jumpstretch bands to do weighted recovery work, tricep extensions, shoulder stability and squats/good mornings... including these i do at least 10 workouts a week... overtraing? nope... recovery. If you cant do it... its not cos you are overtrained its cos you are out of shape...
give it a try, i dont even mind if you use a swiss ball here... Jonathan

It doesnt quite work like that. receovery is done the day after teh heavy session. Eg if monday is legs, and tuesday is Shoulders and chest, on tuesday do maybe 2setsx25 squats and 2x25 stiff leg deadlifts to recover from monday's session. you cant "cram" recovery into one day a week.
