thanks. i keep getting the problems of bar drifting outward during the initial ascend of the bar. yesterday, i download heck alot of DL video clips and most of them keep the bar very close to the shin plus their butt are relatively high.

My problem is stopping the bar from rolling all over the floor after putting it down!
I find having the bar an inch or so above the middle of the length of my feet the best position to lift.

i feel i can get a better lift if i do it bare footed. what i will do for the next lift is to adopt a wider than shoulder wide stance, toes pointing out instead of straight. backside higher up abit and do a jerk during the initial lift to increase the speed of lift.

Toa Payoh allows you to do it bare-footed? If I could I would too!
If you want to adopt a wider stance, try sumo dls. I once tried a wider-than-shoulder stance for a few sessions before discovering that somehow I kept leaning more on one side.
Ah, it may not be advisable to jerk the bar off the ground. Squeeze the bar off the ground instead, you can always lift faster after that.

did 20+ sets of deadlift singles ranging from 1RM - 80%1RM trying to get the technique right. now seems to get the hang of it; lower butt down, look up, lift like squatting up, but it really burn me out!

20 singles? You're crazy! ;D Here's a tip: Each time you go to the gym, treat it as a practice rather than a workout. The better you can deadlift, the more you can lift. Strength is technique and technique is strength; they are one and the same.
