If I'm not wrong, it's the combined weight of his snatch and his clean and jerk. Currently these are the only two lifts in Olympic weightlifting. Military press used to be part of it (Tan Howe Liang did it for his silver medal win) but it was phased out long ago.
Bench, squat and deadlifts are lifts used by powerlifters. Powerlifting is not as recognised as Olympic weightlifting because currently there is no international body with an official set of rules and regulations to govern the sport. Of course that is not to say that powerlifters are any weaker than Olympic weightlifters, but their feats of strength do suffer from a lack of credibility. Unfair, but that's the way it is for now.
By the way, I find it very amusing that there is no money for an aspiring local sportsmen in the ONLY sport in Singapore's history that has produced an Olympic medallist, but there seems to be no lack of money for a kampung soccer league and foreign athletes in more "popular" sports. There is even spare change to accomodate a few unhappy foreign athletes who bring their parents along to sit in and make demands! But no, no money for Mr Ang, sorry, no money for people like you.

yeah lor, stupid sports like kampung chicken soccer, badminton, ,swimming got so much money to spend and weightlifting got peanuts.....everytime soccer here, goal 2010 here, goal here , goal there, own goal everywhere....very irritating...then when the weightlifters got a pattern of groove going, he cannot serve his reservist in safra training, have to rot away in some jungle and come back weaker....KNS
