Hi... have started working out abt 4 mths back... alot of time during my gym sessions... I see alot of guys whips out a water bottle with some powder form stuffs to mix with water and empty the whole content straight after their workout... I've been told that those are protein shakes or some kinda supplements that is supposedly to aid muscle growth... And as far as I know... cost quite a bit... My question is... is it absolutely necessary to take such supplements?

currently i'm not taking any supplement... since its not absolutely necessary then why does it seem like every other guy in the gym is taking it? everybody is taking it doesnt mean u have to follow the crowd..but you do indeed need a fast digesting protein after a workout or else.. its even pointles to pump hard in the gyms... you can consume egg whites after your workout for a fast digesting protein... thats what all natural bodybuilders does... but when you calculate you do need to consume quiet an amount of egg whites to be equivalent to a scoop of whey protein... which is why.. i usually suggest whey protein as it is more cost efficient.. and you can even use it for your meal replacement shakes.. too .. i mean.. it has dual purpose... or even more.. when u think about it.. it might be costly to look at it at first glance that it is expensive.. but when u do the math.. it is much cheaper in the long run.. than purchasing high protein whole foods..... i hope this helps... do let us know if you need further enquiries cheers ;D

Hi, If i'm not wrong, hot water will break down the protein and hence, might not be a good idea. Read it somewhere but can't remember where... For protein powder, normally a shaker bottle should do the trick. Some MRP might need blender though. will mixing protein powder with hot water ok? cuz ive read reviews on how people are having a hard time mixing it with a sthingy and have to use a blender to mix it properly. ---edit--- typo
