Wondering if anyone could clarify the differences between supplementing one's diet with protein vs amino acids?
My understanding is that protein comprises amino acids. If this is the case, would it not suffice to just consume protein supplements?
Thanks.

Proteins are form by chains of amino acids .basically there's no differences between amino acids and protein unless you are referring to BC AA . Which type of protein supplement do you refer to ? if protein blend , it's possible to consume it throughout the day , but for whey protein , that will be a different case we are born to eat , not born to drink and live . enjoy life and enjoy training .

Sorry to sound so ignorant; but can you elaborate the differences between protein and BCAA? And why would protein blend differ from whey protein?

Protein break down into amino acids both supply nitrogen to the body. For most people, protein will be good enough to supply nitrogen as healthy people digest high quality protein very well, near to 100%. If looking for amino acids supplements for nitrogen-retention purpose, peptides-bonded amino acids works better than free form (singular amino acid). But free form have special application like L-Tyrosine have a pep effect, L-glutamine are good as a gut and immune cells tonic etc. ;D
