I have been interested in grip strength training recently. Some simple and cheap ideas (unconventional) would be: Squeeze a gripper, can be brought everywhere, at the mrt, the bus, or even when walking. Can squeeze >100 reps a day like this. Swinging a golf club, golf club can be obtained at Cash Converter at approx $6-15. Swinging a racket, badminton, tennis, squash etc. Swinging a baseball bat. Swinging a broomstick or whatever stick. Easy to adjust power/strength just by adjusting the position of the grip.

If you like swinging things, cut off the bottom of a supplement container, fill it with cement and stick a wooden pole in it before it dries. Cheap version of a clubbell.

I heard very thick bars are good for grip strength if you do chin up or other exercise with them.

I just deadlift and hang onto the bar for as long as I can before letting it drop. How's that for training grip?

I just deadlift and hang onto the bar for as long as I can before letting it drop. How's that for training grip? This is an effective way. More natural I presume. Where got people do "curls" for the finger in our natural course of physical work. Fingers are for gripping. ;D

A pack of cards is easy if you twist the sides as you pull. A phonebook...needs a lot of grip strength.
