my observation. for powerlifting bp, - elbow tuck in and shoulder blades are in. - bar touch the upper stomach - mostly triceps strength, little on the pec - arc back, almost like doing a decline press - directly up-down. Shorten the distance travel
for bbing bp, - elbow out - bar touch the nipples - a combo of tricep and pec strength - back flat - bar travel in reverse J direction
the former use as much as tricep strength to push the heaviest weights. THe latter utilize the weights to build muscles. Please share your differences and opinions on this topic.

Powerlifting benchpress is mainly lat strength, not triceps.

Powerlifting benchpress is mainly lat strength, not triceps. No they try to activate more of their triceps by doing it almost like CGBP style

powerlifting bench press is a skill, an art in using ur body and turning it into a bench pressing machine.bodybuilding bench press is all about the pecs and pecs, elbows out, bar to chest.regardless of such differences, there are some powerlifters who have bodybuilder like technique in bench pressing instead of the usual back arching to the belly.Glen Chabot is perhaps the only guy i have seen so far who benches 600 plus pounds perfectly with elbows out, bar to chest, back as flat as a board.no jerking , no whatsoever.in fact, i was so amazed at such clean technique that i watched it over 8 timesat irongame.com and still cannot believe the control and technique and not forgetting the strength he had to bench 600 plus pounds for a few reps RAW!!!no bench shirt at all!!

I mean, that's the reason why they keep their arms tucked in, to activate max lat power right? Triceps are relatively small and weak, don't think it's enough. Yeah, it looks like they using mainly triceps because the arms are moving and the torso isn't. I'm pretty sure it's lats. But... heh heh, what do you think?

Erm lats do a big part whether they do it bbing style or pling style, its only in pling where they try to activate more of their tris

Ahh, that's how it works.
Would be fair to say that BBstyle uses less lat power than PLstyle? Or the same?
