Which do you think is more apporiate as "real strength" cause i heard of numerous strongman at other forums who only train shoulder muscles and lower body but no chest and occasionally biceps only.

depend on what u want to lift, for strongmen, correct me if im wrong, they are triceps, lower back, hamstring and glute. but other muscle play crucial roles too in strength like abs, quads etc

The torso (abs and back) and legs support everything. Leg muscles are three to four times stronger than arm muscles. If the lower body is weak, everything is weak.

chuck ahrens was famous for his incredible deltoid strength and development.he was so wide that he had to walk sideways through doors.he can overhead press 200 plus pounds overhead perfectly with 1 hand.he was the epitomy of upper body strength but he was weak in the lower body especially his legs.as such whenever he needed to do overhead pressing, he would hold onto a pole with 1 hand to stabilise himself.
