A little something I wrote. (For those in the military, police or civil defence, take note that doing many bodyweight pull-ups has limited tactical application. Do weighted pull-ups instead. After all, you don't do your job in your PT kit right?) singaporekettlebells.tripod.com/id25.html

*Shrugs*
I just don't see the relationship between pull-ups and what makes a soldier "real".

Which is why Real-soldiers do pull-ups in SBO at the very least.
SBO stands for Skeleton. Which means the very basic. When you wage glorious war you will be in your SBO. Which is why you must treat it as part of your Body...Part of YOU as a soldier.
Jonathan you mentioned that Soldiers don't do their job in PT kit. And that was my response. A REAL soldier does Pull-ups in SBO. Civilians do it in PT-Kit.
Cheers

Endurance endurance endurance, that's all soldiers need. Lots and lots of endurance.

Cheers Far be it for me to judge the "realness" of a soldier by whether he does his pull-ups in SBO or PT Kit, or whether he trains pull-ups at all. Of course, tougher training is always good. "Cry in the dojo, laugh on the battlefield", that kind of thing. But when it comes to defining what a "real" soldier is, I doubt if pull-ups are of any consideration at all. My comment was just to get those people thinking, if any should happen to read this thread.

If they had brains they wouldn't be soldiers! They would be the politicians who send them to die! It is a pity that people look down on soldiers. Being a soldier does NOT mean you lack a brain. But I guess this is the Singapore mentality I think it is honorable to serve your country. "Theirs not to reason why. Theirs but to do and die. And die they will. And die they do!"
