not all can achieve gold in SBJ lah...for them a sliver is good enough liao..from nothing...i have seen guys who canot even jump 2m leh...for them to jump 40cm more is like asking them to pull up 5 more...cheers Na those cannot jump more then 2m=lousy technique+no guts to risk falling face flat ;D if u train, u surely can jump at least 240cm cos i got personal exp sec1=168cm sbj at 5'10 65kg ;D sad rite

Haha, I like your comments of "afraid of falling flat onto their face". While it may be true for the gals but I think guys are not so guniang right? Anyway, I may have an explanation for your achievement and personal experiences. U (or your trainees) may process either Type II or IIb muscle fibers, and after hard training and technique, you improve almost 20% (from 2m to 2.4m?). This is alot. Lets say if some1 (someone who is not into sports) is the type I, endurance type, they may not be able to improve by so much, say only 10%. So there is a slight switch of Type I to type IIA. This is also considered an achievement. Technique is one thing but gentics plays a part too... cheers (I am begining to like this forum, so much to discuss and learn...)

well i was responding to heeman ;D btw during 2001-2002 my skool team almost all can jump 300cm sbj and dunk too maby all got good genes ;D Wah! Impressive! Wat school u guys from?

i almost 300 . hahhaa ... almosstttttt 261 cm .. hmmm =x . u all ah pek liao no need jump so far la .. secondary school student lyk mi still have to face PFT . every catagory gotta full mark except for sit and reach . haha

I fail to see how any part of the leg can possibly avoid being involved in leaping. Well, you could always try Googling for pictures of Olympic long-jumpers and see the size of their calves to confirm... ;D

Well, you could always try Googling for pictures of Olympic long-jumpers and see the size of their calves to confirm... ;D what you will see in a world class jumper are not massive calves. Like i said before, what you will see are high calf insertions and long achiles tendons that are great for reactive strength. Thick tree trunk calf muscles are great for truck pulling but not so great for speed strength.
