Has anyone ever heard of static contraction training or max contraction training. I came across this website recently www.bodyactive-online.co.uk/Training/Weights/Methods/static.aspNow Im a big fan of Mentzer and apparently this theory was written by two of his most populr students...and either it works fantastically - and is the next step in extreme high intensity traning - or its a load of garbage and is going to give HIT a bad name. Whats the opinion - has anyone ever tried a system like this - and should I give it a go? thedarkest1

Look at those gymasts, their huge shoulders and biceps are from static contraction ;D However, I feel this method can only supplement ur workout and not totally replace it mayby u should stick to compounds and do isolations using this method ;D Keep us updated on ur progress

Last time I tried a HIT workout...I almost puked on a trainer, had the worst headache and felt like I was gonna get a fever or something.
Mike Mentzer died at 50.
You got to enjoy the gym man....no point trying to kill yourself for a couple of weeks and slacking off for a month to rest up. Of course, this is in my humble opinion only.
The 'HARDCORES' amongst us might actually gain sadistic pleasure from S.H.I.T method (Super High Intensive Training)....hehehe

It does work though. I have a friend who manages to take 30 sec rests in between sets. I dunno how he does it and I wan't surprised when he stopped going to the gym frequently.
Anyway, he gained a fair bit of strength over a course of about 1/2 year, but personally, I believe he could have got better gains if he stuck to a 3 or 4 day split program.
Hit one body part as hard as you can and give it an entire week to rest. I believe the HIT program involves full body work right?

Its more like extreme exertion per workout(which is shorter then usual)

Oh...
So you only 'HIT' one body part per session?

Oh... So you only 'HIT' one body part per session? You should cos you will only be training one bodypart every one a wk. Anyway these ppl practicing HIT usually just hit the gym twice a week, thus HIT may seem attractive to those who do not have so much time to spare ;D

hmm...
My friend who tried HIT used to do a full body workout in about 30minutes.
Like...he'd bench lighter weights until he basically died, followed by leg presses until he almost went lame and..some other crap to failure before a 5 minute warm down on the threadmill.

No, he stopped going to the gym after about 1/2 a year.
He made some progress I think. Got a bit stronger and leaner.
